I usually hear that the UL is supposed to sound tighter and more aggressive than the Sig:X. The poweramp is the real difference in all of the different amps since the beginning of Fryette / VHT.Īll this information came from my conversations with the Steve and the other people that work at Fryette. All the Fryette amps are based on very similar preamps. Other than that they are extremely similar. The UL poweramp is based on the 2100 rack poweramp. The real difference in these two amps is the poweramp. The three way voicing switch at the beginning of the Lead and Rhythm channel of the Sig X is based on the different eras of the Pittbull. The clean channel if the Sig X is designed to get a NMV amp sound. The clean channels are completely different. The preamps in both amps are extremely similar. Your going to need to set the presence and depth to match your rig. The second setting got me the Hiwatt sound. The guitar controls can be very useful to get several sounds here. Turn on the boost with this setting for a point of breakup sound. Just turn up the volume till breakup and back off a little. The cab and how many speakers makes a huge differance. Some people had a difficult time getting the clean channel clean enough on the Sig X.
